4 Week Spring Season Checkup

MY FAVORITE this season: Mikagura School Suite, Yamada-Kun and the Seven Witches, Houkago no Pleiades, Re-Kan! DanMachi.

MY TIME-KILLERS: Hibike! Euphonium, Etotama, Plastic Memories.

My LEAST favorite this season: I like everything I’m watching.
Craziest: Yamada-Kun and the Seven Witches.
Silliest/Most Ridiculous: Etotama.
Murdered all my hype for: Nothing~. I like them all!
Anime I don’t know where it can possibly go: Etotama. Episode 3 changed everything, DanMachi, Houkago no Pleaides.
Anime that will only continue to be predictable: Re-Kan, sorry, Mikagura since I know the entire franchise and live and breathe it.
Most fanservice: Yamada-kun in the Seven Witches.
Anime that will probably get another season: Tbh, none of them. Maybe DanMachi.
Anime that will probably never be heard from again after this: Probably all of them.
Anime that might be a split-cour in disguise: None.
Most unpredictable: Etotama.
Best OP: Re-Kan! Its OP is so upbeat. ❤
Worst: Probably Plastic Memories. It’s too sad.
Cutest: Houkago no Pleiades.
Trippiest: Mikagura School Suite counts.
The one where I want to take my past self and punch in the face for picking: None of these. ^^

Anime I regret not putting on my list or dropping off my list: Kyoukai no Rinne, The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan, Denpa Kyoushi, Kekkai Sensen, Gunslinger Statros, Owari no Seraph, Triage X, Punchline.

My anime of the season so far: Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches

If you haven’t seen School Days…

…Don’t do it.

Please, don’t watch that anime. Please. It is an abomination. I beg you. Please don’t. This is a request. Please don’t. It is the worst anime I have ever had the misfortune of having to look at. I beg you. Please, please, please.

Makoto deserved what he received, and Sekai also did. Makoto is the worst asshole in all of any anime. AT LEAST PUPA TRIED! School Days doesn’t… School Days just doesn’t know how to have common sense. Even if it did, it still wouldn’t be any good.

It’s awful. The worst anime I have ever seen. Please, please, please don’t watch it. Please.

Gunslinger Girl

This was one I’ve been meaning to watch for SIX YEARS. I’m not even joking. I wish I were. I saw an advertisement for it when I was a 12 year old watching my very first anime on DVD, Full Metal Alchemist. Mind you, this was in 2009 or 2010. I think it might have been 2009. I have been wanting to watch this anime for over six years now, but I wasn’t ready.  I also had complications. Not only wasn’t I ready, I couldn’t even find the DVD. I saw an ad for it where Rico didn’t know what to say to that boy, and she replied “Oh I know! I am sorry…” that was literally all I saw because FUNI had ads for it on various DVDs. It wasn’t until today that I finally wrote it in my schedule.

I’ll start off by saying that this is in the girls suffering genre.

Yes. That’s a genre. I made it up to refer to any anime where the main subject is about girls that are suffering/sad/depressed/impoverished/etc. Madoka, Selector, Yuki Yuna, Dolls Fall are four other examples of anime and manga within this genre.

Anyway, the point of this show seems to be a social welfare agency. Already, you know, we’re in for a sad plot. I don’t know what the situation is with Henrietta yet, but I can already tell it’s a pretty sad one. Triela is a big sister character, and Rico… hmm. Rico seems like she’s got the most tragic of the three. The other girl, the glasses girl, I forget her name. The show is so quiet, I never hear it.

Need I note this show takes place in Italy? Yeah. I think it’s weird they all speak Japanese when they’re in Italy. But this is anime, so I’m going to assume they’re actually speaking Italian in this one. I was considering looking for an Italian dub so I could watch it in its proper language, but I can’t understand Italian without subtitles. I also don’t feel like watching it in English. That’s just…nah.

So, so far, I can tell this anime is going to be extremely sad. I read some of the manga awhile ago, but I barely remember it. That was a long time ago when I sat down to read it.

I don’t know where this show can possibly go, but I guess I just need to keep going. I highly doubt there will be any yuri of any kind, but I do ship Henrietta and Triela.

Current thoughts for spring 2015 anime

What am I watching this season? A catchup:

Sunday: Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches.

Monday: Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku.

Tuesday: Hibike! Euphonium.

Wednesday: Houkago no Pleiades.

Thursday: Etotama.

Friday: Danmachi.

Saturday (night): Re-Kan!

Saturday (afternoon): Plastic Memories.

I’m watching eight things, and so far, this is the anime I think will be my anime of the season: Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches.

I think Plastic Memories might not be as good as I’m making it out to be and that Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku will be the best thing ever in all of everything. Re-Kan will just be the cutest anime of my anime season.

Hmm. Hibike! Euphonium might be alright…it if pulls a K-On! I’m dropping it. No offense.

Houkago no Pleiades might be the most moe thing ever…and then there will be a dark twist. All mahou shoujo do that. Meanwhile

Etotama will be shit. Sure, it’s the kind of ecchi I’m looking for, but the plot is terrible.

Danmachi is way too popular, but I really like it. It’s kind of silly how popular Hestia is, but I digress.

Anyway, I think this season will be okay. We’ll have to see, though. It could end up being a bad season. 😦

Well, it’s not a surprise I’d watch Revolutionary Girl Utena eventually. I’ve watched both of Ikuhara’s other works. (I don’t count Sailor Moon since he had no creative freedom over it). This show is much weirder now that I realized who directed it. it has Ikuhara’s scent all over it. Repitiveness, random music, etc. Yup, I’m in for a weirdness treat.

People often argue this isn’t a magical girl. I’m sorry, I’m on that side. It has no magical girl feel to it. Then again, I’m five episodes in, so I guess that my judgment will change later. I’ve heard other arguments that this isn’t a yuri either, but I can see it is since Himemiya is basically engaged to Utena and calls her “Utena-sama.” Even without getting around this, it’s obviously a yuri.

From a standpoint, Utena wants to be a prince. I already knew that before watching this, by the way, since I read the manga partway. I thought that was kind of weird, but I got used to it.

Also, my favorite line, um.
“Well, there’s no rule against a girl wearing the boy’s uniform!” Just… lol.

I’ve heard many things that it

A.) Is a mindfuck.

B.) Has a sitton of symbolism.

C.) Is very weird.

D.) Gets very dark.

E.) Is famous for a reason.

So, I’ll look for all the symbolism as I go on. So far, I can see why it’s well received. I’ll keep going in five episode intervals for now.

Plastic Memories is going to be Sad

Okay, so I’m watching this anime called Plastic Memories. New show, no manga or light novels, or game. It’s about these androids called Giftia’s–and they’re androids with souls and emotions…but they have a service end date of 9 years and 4 months. The people have to retrieve the memories of the Giftia’s when the service ends…

…Well, damn. And the scene where they were doing a retrieval? I almost cried. I’m still watching Your Lie in April, but Plastic Memories is going to keep me in the sadness train. I’m not sure if I’m ready for this. Your Lie in April was sad from the beginning, too, and now Plastic Memories is doing it as well.

Ugh! Anime! You can’t do this to me. 😦
